OKLAHOMA CITY — A large distribution center here operated by Associated Wholesale Grocers here was without power for two days this week because of the major ice storm that ripped through the Midwest, according to local sources. The shutdown backed up deliveries for independents throughout the region, said Ron Edgmon, president of the Oklahoma Grocers Association. AWG could not be reached for comment. Edgmon said about 30-35 stores around the state were still without power as of yesterday because of the storm, which left hundreds of thousands of people without power as the ice toppled trees onto power lines. According to local reports, Crest Discount Foods, based here, lost power at three of its six stores, although at least one had reopened yesterday, a store employee told SN.
