IGA Names Finalists for Retailer of the Year Awards

IGA said it has named eight finalists for its U.S. Retailer of the Year award, three of whom will be named winners at the IGA Global Summit in late March and one of whom will also be awarded the additional title of U.S. international retailer of the year.

CHICAGO — IGA here said it has named eight finalists for its U.S. Retailer of the Year award, three of whom will be named winners at the IGA Global Summit in late March and one of whom will also be awarded the additional title of U.S. international retailer of the year. The finalists are Mike Carper, of Mick-or-Mack IGA, Newcastle, Va.; Jeff Downing, Foothills IGA Market, Marble Hill, Ga.; Tim Henderson, Henderson's IGA, Valentine, Neb.; Gregory Lukeman, IGA Bohemia Supermarket, Bohemia, N.Y.; Bill Price, McMaken's IGA, Brookville, Ohio; Wayne Ray, Columbia Hometown IGA, Columbia, Ky.; Harold Shook, Lake Region IGA Supermarket, Hawley, Pa.; and Kevin Young, Payless Market IGA, Copperopolis, Calif. Under a revamped judging process, the eight retailers will be visited by IGA executives for a store evaluation and be asked to submit an essay explaining how their stores demonstrate operational excellence regarding service, branding, marketing and community commitment, after which a panel of judges will determine the three winners.
