CHICAGO — IGA here said it has named Terry Carr as its first area director for the Western United States. Carr, who spent nearly 20 years with Fleming Cos., will be responsible for supporting IGA expansion in Arizona, California, Oregon and Washington, serving as a liaison between IGA USA and its wholesale and retail members to ensure retailers receive the maximum benefit from IGA programs and brands. At the end of 2007, IGA had 31 retail customers on the West Coast, who are served by C&S Wholesale Grocers, Keene, N.H., and Supervalu, Minneapolis. With the addition last fall of Unifed Grocers, Los Angeles, as an IGA distributor, some retailers in the member-owned cooperative are potential IGA customers.
