GREENVILLE, S.C. — Michael Byars has stepped down as chief executive officer of Bi-Lo, while Anthea Jones has been promoted to president of Bi-Lo as part of a number of reported executive changes at Bi-Lo Holdings.
Byars, who was Bi-Lo’s CEO since 2009, stepped aside as CEO this month, according to his profile on LinkedIn. Jones, who also is Bi-Lo’s senior vice president of operations, added president to his title in January.
A report in the Jacksonville Business Journal last week said Bi-Lo Holdings, the Jacksonville, Fla.-based parent of Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie, has finalized a top executive team under CEO Randall Onstead, including Mark Prestidge as executive vice president and chief operations officer; Brian Carney as chief financial officer; and Larry Stablein as chief merchandising officer.
Prestidge until a year ago was president of Kroger’s Delta Division and has previous experience working alongside Onstead at Randall’s. Carney was previously Bi-Lo’s CFO. Stablein was a board member of Bi-Lo prior to its merger with Winn-Dixie and until 2009 was Bi-Lo’s senior vice president of marketing and merchandising.
Officials at Bi-Lo were not immediately available for comment.
