“Almost seven months has passed since Superstorm Sandy and we are still on the road to recovery," said Gino Palummo, vice president of business development, Key Food. "The people of Coney Island were hit hard and have greatly missed this store. We are so happy to have Key Food rejoin the community — bigger and better — and continue to serve this great neighborhood."
Palummo and other Key Food executives, along with Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, are expected to be in attendance for the celebrations on Friday.

During the time that this store has been closed the owners have been working not only to rebuild, but to make improvements, Key Food said. The layout of the store has been redesigned to allow for larger dairy, meat, deli and produce departments. The store has also converted all of its refrigerators and freezers to be more energy efficient.
