Meijer Plans Remodels, New Stores

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer Inc. here said Monday it plans to invest more than $75 million to remodel 10 stores in Michigan and Ohio.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer Inc. here said Monday it plans to invest more than $75 million to remodel 10 stores in Michigan and Ohio.

The projects include a variety of enhancements such as lighting, heating, refrigeration, exterior lighting and parking lot maintenance. The eight Michigan stores are located in Benton Harbor, Mason, Washington Township, Livonia, Plainwell, Lowell, Grandville and Madison Heights. The two Ohio stores are in Orange Township and Columbus.

Meijer also plans to open two new stores in 2011, including a 192,000-square-foot supercenter in Stevensville, Mich., and Meijer's third "small format" store, which will be located in the Chicago suburb of Melrose Park.
