Ohio union approves contract with Kroger

Union members in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio, agreed on a labor contract with Kroger Co.

Through the new contract, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 75 members retain healthcare for spouses and part-time workers. The contract includes a guarantee of pension benefits until 2021 and salary increases.

"This agreement comes after thoughtful and productive work by both the company and union bargaining committees. I want to thank our associates for supporting this agreement and for the excellent service they provide to our customers every day," said Sukanya Madlinger, president of Kroger's Cincinnati/Dayton division, in a press release.

Cincinnati and Dayton formerly had separate contracts, but agreed on one merged agreement. UFCW 75 said the merged contract will make it easier for members to seek opportunities between the two Ohio areas and will give the union more bargaining power.

This new contract applies to Kroger’s 12,766 Cincinnati employees and 4,945 Dayton employees.
