SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Penn Traffic here will close its nonfood distribution center in Jamestown, N.Y., within 60 days "as part of a plan to operate more efficiently," a chain spokesman told SN Friday. The company said it will use a third-party supplier, which it declined to name, to provide general merchandise and health and beauty care products to its 108 stores and 122 wholesale customers. Penn Traffic will continue to operate its full-service distribution centers here and in Dubois, Pa., the spokesman said. The shutdown of the 274,00-square-foot Jamestown facility will impact approximately 50 employees, he added. -- Elliot Zwiebach
