DANBURY, Conn. — Wakefern Food Corp. said that its newest PriceRite discount supermarket will open here May 22.

Located at 29 Main St., the store is at the site of a former Waldbaums closed by A&P in 2011. It marks the 11th PriceRite location in Connecticut.

The 45,000-square-foot PriceRite will feature several green technologies, including glass doors on dairy cases, and energy-efficient lighting and refrigeration throughout the store.

The PriceRite format includes fresh produce; packaged meats; baked goods; a variety of private label and national grocery brands; and dairy and frozen food products. PriceRite does not advertise or publish a weekly circular. Customers are encouraged to use their own bags or to buy them as needed for 10 cents each.

“Expanding our service in Connecticut with a new store in Danbury is a natural next step in our commitment to providing our customers with a great shopping experience,” Neil Duffy, president of PriceRite, said in a statement. “At PriceRite, it is our philosophy that our customers shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality to save on price.”

PriceRite is a sister banner to ShopRite under Wakefern, the cooperative based in Keasbey, N.J.
