LOS ANGELES — Pro's Ranch Markets here is reportedly set to expand into Texas later this year with a 60,000-square-foot store in El Paso, according to the El Paso Times. The store will be located in a building that formerly housed a Smith's Food & Drug Center and subsequently a Rainbow Foods store. Pro's, owned by Mike Provenzano, operates four stores in Southern California and four in the Phoenix area — stores Provenzano has described as being as authentically Mexican as possible, with a festival-like atmosphere similar to an outdoor marketplace, with perimeter departments representing different shops in a small Mexican village where people can stroll from one to the next, surrounded by the sounds of traditional Latin music. The stores feature scratch bakeries, fast-food areas with a variety of fresh hot foods, a tortilleria and Mexican-oriented produce, meats, fish and deli sections.
