Roundy's Kicks Off 140th Anniversary
MILWAUKEE — Roundy's Supermarkets here is launching a month-long celebration of its 140th anniversary with a series of special events.

MILWAUKEE — Roundy's Supermarkets here is launching a month-long celebration of its 140th anniversary with a series of special events.
Besides anniversary sales throughout October, the company will deliver $500 and a pallet of food worth $4,000 to each of 60 food pantries in Wisconsin and Minnesota, for a total donation of $267,000 between Oct. 8 and Oct. Oct. 12; host bratwurst fry luncheons to benefit local charities at seven stores in Wisconsin and Minnesota between Oct. 8 and Oct. 12; and host a dinner for patients and their families at American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wis., on Thursday as part of its ongoing Roundy's Gives Back program.
In addition, it will serve anniversary cake to employees and the first 100 customers at each store on Saturday, Oct. 6; solicit donations at its stores to benefit hunger relief; sponsor a trivia contest on its Facebook page, with a bag of Roundy's products as the prize; sponsor a coloring contest for children; and offer a free reusable bag to customers who purchase $15 in Roundy's products.

Roundy's was founded as a wholesale grocery company in 1872. "We are proud of Roundy's rich heritage, how the company has evolved and the course we've set for the future," said Bob Mariano, chairman and chief executive officer. "We wanted to pause and reflect on the past and thank our customers and employees for being the reason for our success."
