Schnuck Markets expands flexible employment options to Missouri
The program, Flexforce, allows employees to choose shifts and store locations that best fit their schedules
Schnuck Markets is expanding its “Flexforce” employment option to three more store locations in Columbia, Mo. The St. Louis-based company first rolled out the program last year in select St. Louis-area stores.
The program offers hourly workers a flex assignment option, meaning they are able to mix and match shifts and store locations that best fit their personal schedules.
At the time of its first trial period, Schnucks’ vice president of store operations, Stacy Brandt, said the program evolved because the company knows that the workforce is evolving. Having flexibility helps employees who are looking for different opportunities to pick up shifts that fit their schedule – and it might even help them grow a new career.
Brandt also said that it helps the grocery retailer to stay relevant and flexible for the modern workforce.
In January, Schnucks announced it would expand the program to 26 areas in Illinois, along with two stores in Indiana and three in Missouri.
Now, those three Missouri locations have added the Flexforce feature, which allows employees to log into the Schnucks scheduling app to view and claim open shifts and, if they choose, they can also opt-in to receive notifications of open shifts.
Flexforce is currently reserved for those at least 18 years old, and those employees will receive the same benefits and perks as traditional Schnucks teammates including career advancement, the option to be paid after each shift, health benefits (after a qualifying period), and discounts.
Schnuck Markets Inc. operates 114 stores in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin and has nearly 15,000 employees with annual sales of more than $2.1 billion.
