Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer, is responding to the threat of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 by extending its COVID leave policy for associates through March 31, 2022, as well as reintroducing its vaccine incentive for frontline associates to provide $150 after an associate becomes fully vaccinated. In other news, Food Lion’s newest supermarket opened in Garner, N.C., last month and became the grocer’s 75th new store this year. The new store features an extensive product assortment, including fresh in-store made sushi, a self-service hot and cold food bar, in-store fresh-cut fruit and a wide variety of affordable and easy “grab-and-go” options for meal solutions.
