Sobeys, Shell launch gas promotion

Sobeys said Wednesday it has launched a summer gas-discount program in cooperation with Shell stations in five Canadian provinces.

Sobeys customers in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia can earn fuel discount coupons for up to 10 cents off per liter Shell for each $20 spent on eligible purchases at Sobeys stores, the company said.

"With summer fast approaching and more Canadians taking to the road for weekends and vacations, what better time to help our customers save a little bit extra," Doug Brummer, SVP, Sobeys Marketing, said in a statement. "In addition to Club Sobeys rewards, great prices and an exciting line-up of summer products in-store, the 'Shop at Sobeys, Save at Shell' promotion is one more way we are thanking our customers for choosing Sobeys."

Sobeys stores in Ontario and the western provinces will issue the fuel discount coupons until Aug. 21. Shell will accept one coupon for a purchase of up to 75 liters of fuel through Sept. 7. There are 641 Shell stations and 183 Sobeys stores in Ontario and the western provinces, and 12 Sobeys Urban Fresh locations in Ontario.
