Weis Markets here yesterday said it has named David J. Hepfinger, a 32-year veteran of Price Chopper, Schenectady, N.Y., to be the company’s new president and chief operating officer.

SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets here yesterday said it has named David J. Hepfinger, a 32-year veteran of Price Chopper, Schenectady, N.Y., to be the company’s new president and chief operating officer. Norman Rich will continue as chief executive officer of Weis, which operates 155 supermarkets in five states and 31 SuperPetz stores. Hepfinger, 49, will oversee day-to-day operations; perishable and center store marketing, merchandising and procurement; pharmacy; distribution; human resources; and store support services. He most recently was senior vice president of retailing and administration at Price Chopper. His position has been eliminated, a spokeswoman for Price Chopper told SN.
