Winn-Dixie Foundation to Present Donations to Local Nonprofits
The Winn-Dixie Foundation is scheduled to present 11 local charities with checks for $25,000 today at the final destination of its five-stop donation tour.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Winn-Dixie Foundation is scheduled to present 11 local charities with checks for $25,000 here today at the final destination of its five-stop donation tour. Representatives from Daniel Memorial Inc., Fresh Ministries, Girl Scouts of Gateway Council, HabiJax, Local Initiatives Support Corp., Real Sense Prosperity Campaign, United Negro College Fund, Second Harvest Bank of Northeast Florida, Toys for Tots, Dreams Come True and Ponte Vedra Beach Park will unwrap an oversize check at the event. Other stops on the tour included Orlando, Tampa, Miami and New Orleans. After today’s event, a total of $1,050,000 will have been presented by the Winn-Dixie Foundation to nonprofits. The nonprofit Winn-Dixie Foundation was created in 1944 and makes grants to local nonprofit organizations focused on hunger, women and children, education, and health initiatives. It is funded by the Winn-Dixie Charity Classic, presented by Wachovia, which was held this year on Oct. 30 and generated $1.425 million.
