CHELSEA, Mass. — State Garden here has issued a voluntary recall of nearly 100 different brands of bagged salad mixes due to possible Listeria contamination.
The items, sold under labels including Nature¹s Promise, Nature's Place, Northeast Fresh and a variety of private label brands, were bagged at State Garden's Chelsea, Mass. plant on January 4.
All of the mixes have a "best if used by" date of January 15, 2011 and traceback codes of 45693 and 45703. Currently, no incidents of food poisoning have been linked to the salads.
The recall was ordered after Rhode Island Department of Health officials found Listeria contamination in a retail sample of Northeast Fresh Spring Salad Mix. More information can be found on the FDA's official recall site here.
