Aldi’s Curbside Pickup to Expand to Nearly 600 Stores

After a successful pilot in select markets, Aldi is expanding its Curbside Grocery Pickup to nearly 600 stores across 35 U.S. states by the end of July. The offering, in partnership with Instacart, comes as online shopping demand has exploded amid the coronavirus crisis and as retailers seek additional ways to serve shoppers at units that have seen additional volume but social distancing compromises.

“We are always looking for ways to make the Aldi shopping experience even more convenient and accessible for everyone,” said Aldi U.S. CEO Jason Hart. “Whether shopping in-store, or online for delivery or pickup, we’ll continue to be here to safely serve our customers.”

Curbside Grocery Pickup offers customers access to the full selection of Aldi exclusive products and Aldi Finds at shop.aldi.us. After filling their online cart, shoppers will be asked to select a pickup time and location. Each store with the offering has marked, designated parking spots, and an employee will load groceries into the shopper’s car.

Curbside Grocery Pickup is the latest addition to e-commerce offerings at Batavia, Ill.-based Aldi. In 2017, Aldi launched a grocery delivery pilot with Instacart, which has continuously expanded and now includes the availability of alcohol and many Aldi Finds online. Aldi, which has more than 1,900 stores in the U.S., offers online grocery delivery in more than 10,000 ZIP codes nationwide.
