Amazon, Whole Foods Continue Prime Delivery Expansion

Further advancing its quest to dominate grocery e-commerce, Amazon and Whole Foods Market is expanding its Prime delivery service to Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Palm Beach, Fla., as well as parts of Long Island and select areas in New York City. 

The company's delivery service is quickly taking over the U.S., having launched only in February and most recently expanding to Chicago, Houston, Indianapolis, Minneapolis and San Antonio last month. The most recent expansion brings Amazon Prime delivery to more than 20 cities, with aspirations to expand coverage across the entire U.S. within the year. 

“We’ve been delighted with the customer response to delivery in as little as an hour through Prime Now, and we’re excited to bring the service to our customers in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Palm Beach, Long Island and New York City,” Christina Minardi, Whole Foods Market's EVP of operations, said in a statement. 

Prime Now members in the aforementioned areas will now have the opportunity to shop both the fresh and packaged goods sections and receive free two-hour delivery on orders of $35 or more and one-hour deliveries for $7.99. Prime members also get 10% off of sales items in the store.
