Associated Grocers Resets Leadership Roles

New President and CEO Manard Lagasse Jr. announces four promotions. Several members of the Baton Rouge, La., wholesaler were promoted to leadership roles under newly named President and CEO Manard Lagasse Jr.

Newly appointed Associated Grocers President and CEO Manard Lagasse Jr. has made several leadership moves to help boost the operational strength of the Baton Rouge, La.-based wholesaler.

“We have been a leader in the wholesale grocery industry for many years and I am confident with these changes, our position to serve our customers will be even greater going forward,” said Lagasse, who was named president and CEO in May. “Each of these leaders brings unmatched talent, enthusiasm and energy to Associated Grocers. I am committed to strengthening our overall portfolio, and with these leaders and our entire team of dedicated AG family members, I am confident in our bright future.”

David Politz was promoted to SVP and chief information officer. He has worked for Associated Grocers for 34 years, most recently as VP of information services.

Pete Tortorich was promoted to VP retail operations/business development. He has held many positions within the company during his 24-year career, most recently senior director of perishables. In his new role, he will continue to lead the perishable department as well as develop new business.

Carl Marks was named VP operations, promoted from general manager of operations. He will help develop and guide efforts to ensure efficient and effective growth.

William Holtman was promoted to VP logistics and supply-chain management, overseeing warehousing and transportation. He most recently was general manager of logistics and supply-chain management.

“My team is looking forward to all of the innovative ideas being introduced by AG’s executive leadership. The energy they are exuding provides a great landscape for the company,” said Barry Loy of The Markets about the leadership changes. Loy is a retail member and immediate past board chair of AG.
