Digital commerce firm Mercatus announced today that Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC), a Texas-based food retailer, has rolled out online ordering with curbside pickup service to 100 stores under its Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods and Fresh by Brookshire’s banners.

A successful pilot of curbside pickup in late 2017 at its iconic Fresh by Brookshire’s store in Tyler, Texas, saw the company expand its service to dozens of Super 1 Foods stores last summer. Since December 2018, BGC has introduced curbside pickup to 60 other Brookshire’s Food Stores, including an additional seven locations today.

In selecting Mercatus, BGC customers can now order, pay and schedule pickup times at select stores using banner-specific websites and mobile apps. Each store's personal shoppers fill customer orders by selecting the freshest products available and carefully following any special instructions. Upon completion, personal shoppers then text or call customers with any questions about their selections and to notify them when their order is ready for pickup. Mercatus operates not only in grocery but also in a variety of other retail verticals.

“At BGC, we are focused on creating and delivering exceptional experiences and value for our customers,” John D’Anna, Brookshire's chief strategy officer, said in a statement. “This commitment is reflected in the newly enhanced online and in-store shopping experiences we’re proud to offer customers across all of our banners, and we are excited to have introduced Curbside (BGC's delivery service) in the majority of our locations.”
