Cardenas Markets will host grand opening festivities this month for their recently acquired and freshly remodeled store locations that operated under the Rio Ranch Market banner.

This summer, the leading Hispanic supermarket chain expanded its Southern California footprint with the acquisition of six Rio Ranch Market store locations. One of the locations in Banning, California, at 3317 W. Ramsey Street celebrated its grand opening September 28. It is Cardenas Markets’ first store to serve the Gorgonio Pass area. The remaining stores to open are located in San Bernardino, Perris, Riverside, Fontana and Chino.

“Cardenas Markets is stronger than ever, and this acquisition further solidifies the company’s position as one of the leading Hispanic supermarket chains in the country,” said Doug Sanders, chairman and CEO of Cardenas Markets in a statement at the time of the acquisition announcement. “As we look ahead, we will continue to identify strategic opportunities to grow our business, while providing a fresh and authentic shopping trip for our customers.”

Each of the stores has undergone extensive remodels, including: produce departments with seasonal fruits and vegetables from the U.S. and Latin America; full-service meat departments offering USDA Choice beef and fresh cuts of beef, pork and chicken cut daily; and a large selection of seafood. The new Cardenas Markets will also feature bakeries with specialty pastries, desserts, cakes, pan dulce and bolillos baked fresh daily; Mexican cocinas with Cardenas’ carnitas, tamales and taquería classics; and Tortilleria departments with corn and flour tortillas made from scratch.

The Cardenas Markets remodeled store locations are: San Bernardino—located at 25745 Base Line St., which opened last Wednesday; Perris—located at 460 E. 4th St. and Riverside—located at 9001 Mission Blvd. in Jurupa Valley (both are set to open Wednesday); Fontana—located at 116747 Cherry Ave., opening October 26; and Chino—located at 5832 Riverside Dr., to open October 26.

Grand opening festivities will include live mariachis, ballet folklorico dancers and prize giveaways.

Cardenas Markets is headquartered in Ontario, California, and operates 52 stores under the Cardenas Markets banner, seven stores under the Los Altos Ranch Markets banner, five stores under the Rio Ranch Markets banner and one store under the Cardenas Ranch Markets banner.
