Dollar General Promotes Emily Taylor to Chief Merchant

Discounter also announces a departure, two promotions. The former SVP of channel innovation succeeding the departing Jason Reiser; Tracey Herrmann and Kal Patel are also promoted.

Dollar General Corp. has promoted Emily Taylor from SVP of channel innovation to EVP and chief merchandising officer, effective Sept. 25. She will be responsible for the strategy and execution of the discounter’s merchandising, marketing, global sourcing, merchandise operations and in-store experience efforts.

Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based Dollar General also announced the departure of Jason Reiser, who held the CMO role, effective Sept. 24, as well as some additional organizational changes.

“We are confident that Emily’s strategic vision and longstanding leadership with Dollar General will help to drive our continued efforts to innovate, capture growth opportunities and serve our customers and communities,” said Jeff Owen, chief operating officer of Dollar General. “I would also like to thank Jason for his contributions to advancing Dollar General’s merchandising strategy and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Taylor joined Dollar General in 1998. She was its SVP of channel innovation since 2019. Tracey Herrmann, previously SVP of store operations, will take over that role, and Kal Patel, formerly a vice president and division manager, will be promoted to Herrmann’s role.
