Dollar Tree on Tuesday appointed Aditya Maheshwari chief accounting officer and senior vice president.

Maheshwari takes over the post held by Kathleen Mallas, who tendered her resignation in April and left the discounter near the end of May.

Since 2019, Maheshwari had worked as chief accounting officer, corporate controller, treasurer and SVP of finance for apparel company Under Armour, according to Dollar Tree’s filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Before that, he served as chief accounting officer and senior vice president of finance at OpenText Corporation. He also had several different jobs at KPMG in Canada, the U.K. and India.

Mallas had been the top accountant at Chesapeake, Virginia-based Dollar Tree since April 2016, according to her LinkedIn profile. She began her tenure with the discount retailer in 1997 as manager of financial reporting.

Maheshwari’s hiring is yet another change to Dollar Tree’s executive ranks, which have undergone a near-total transformation since last summer when the retailer announced the departure of its COO, CIO, chief legal officer, chief strategy officer and CFO.

Rick Dreiling was named Dollar Tree’s CEO in January, replacing Mike Witynski, who had been with the company since 2010 and had held the top post since 2020.

Dollar Tree reported a challenging second quarter late last month, noting that fewer discretionary purchases and ongoing shrink are putting pressure on its balance sheet.
