Dollar Tree and Family Dollar are looking for help at the holidays and beyond: The discounters will host a nationwide hiring event Oct. 20, to hire for seasonal as well as permanent in-store and distribution center roles.

Chesapeake, Va.-based Dollar Tree Inc. said it's looking to hire thousands of new workers at its sixth annual cross-country hiring event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time. The company's growth, in addition to expectations for an especially enthusiastic holiday shopping season, have the company looking to hire managers, customer-service staff, stockers and cashiers at Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores, according to a news release. At distribution centers, order fillers, operators, maintenance technicians and managers are needed.

"In anticipation of a busy holiday season as friends and families plan to gather together for more in-person celebrations, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar are excited to bring aboard motivated individuals as we provide our customers with extreme value on their seasonal essentials and new items weekly," Dollar Tree CHRO Betty Click said in the release.

Amid an intense labor crunch for retailers across the country, Dollar Tree touted its recently launched ValueED education assistance program and tuition discounts and reimbursements for full-time associates. The company also noted its introduction last year of DailyPay, an optional benefit that allows employees to get paid between traditional paydays.

Late last month, Dollar Tree—long known for its fidelity to the everything-for-$1 pricing model—announced it will ramp up deployment of "Dollar Tree Plus!" departments in stores, featuring an assortment of items priced at $3 or $5. In addition, the company will test higher price points of $1.25 and $1.50 at some legacy Dollar Tree stores. An additional 1,500 Dollar Tree Plus! departments are expected to debut in the company's fiscal 2022. Dollar Tree operates almost 16,000 stores across 48 states.
