This past weekend, Giant celebrated the grand opening of a new suburban Philadelphia store at 2180 W. Chester Pike in Broomall, part of Marple Township. The new 74,000-square-foot-store that opened Dec. 6 replaces a nearby store on Springfield Road. The new location, operated by Carlisle, Pa.-based Giant Food Stores, a subsidiary of Ahold Delhaize, employs about 200 full- and part-time team members.
“We have proudly served the Broomall community for nearly 20 years and are excited to continue doing so from our brand-new store,” said Scott Grygo, store manager of the Broomall location.

The new store is more than just a larger building at a different location, the company said. Shoppers will notice an expanded variety or products and other amenities.
Giant said there are more than 350 fresh produce items, including a wide array of organic selections and locally grown produce, as well as in-store fresh cut vegetables and fruits and a salad bar. The seafood and meat counters also offer a greater selection of USDA Prime and Nature’s Promise meats, along with a variety of fresh fish.
There's also a full-service deli that features Boar’s Head deli meats and cheeses, along with prepared foods and grab-and-go meals. The hot food offering includes a barbecue station with meats that are smoked on-site daily. Meanwhile, the in-store bakery boasts artisan breads, made-fresh doughnuts, signature cakes and other dessert favorites such as locally-made cannoli.
The Broomall location also has a full-service pharmacy that is open seven days a week to fill prescriptions and offer expert advice. Its pharmacy staff is also trained and available to administer vaccines.

“We know our customers will enjoy their new shopping experience," Grygo said, "complete with expanded services like a beer and wine eatery and our Giant Direct service, giving them more time to spend with their families and friends this holiday season.”
Customers can use Giant Direct to order appetizers, entrees and desserts assembled fresh for holiday parties and gatherings.

The store's eatery is stocked with more than 300 varieties of both national and local brand beer and wine, fresh-made meal combos, sandwiches and wraps, salads, sushi and delights from the hot Asian food bar.
So far in 2019, Giant has unveiled a crop of impressive new store locations, including a new flagship store in Center City Philadelphia, along with Giant Heirloom Market stores in University City, Northern Liberties and Queen Village.
