Giant Teams with Instacart for 30-Minute Delivery
"Instant delivery" of 20,000 items as early as 6 a.m. and as late as midnight. After announcing its partnership with Kroger on ultra-fast delivery earlier this month, Instacart adds another retailer to its instant-delivery partner roster.
Two weeks after announcing a partnership with Kroger for 30-minute home delivery, Instacart is boosting its presence in the "instant delivery" game again: Carlisle, Pa.-based The Giant Co., an Ahold Delhaize USA subsidiary, announced that it has teamed with Instacart to offer 30-minute delivery of select items from Giant and Martin's stores.
Around 20,000 items—primarily need-it-now essentials such as baby products, toilet paper and prepared foods as well as a range of snacks and beverages—will be available through Giant Instant Delivery seven days a week, as early as 6 a.m. and as late as midnight. Instant delivery carries a $10 minimum and a $2.99 delivery fee. Instacart Express members get priority delivery for free.
For now, Giant and Martin's customers can choose 30-minute delivery only through the Instacart Marketplace on the Instacart app; however, in the coming months, Giant's and Martin's websites and mobile apps will add the instant-delivery option, Giant stated in a news release.
"Together with Instacart, we’re simplifying the shopping experience," Giant VP of brand experience Matt Simon said in the release. "Whether it’s realizing the chocolate chips are missing the night before the school bake sale or unexpected dinner guests at the doorstep, through Giant Instant Delivery, we are continuing to find new ways to be there for our customers when they need us the most."
Giant first launched delivery service through Instacart in 2017, and Giant customers across 90% of the company's nearly 190 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia now can order online for home delivery, the company noted. Later this year, Giant expects to open a Giant Direct fulfillment center in Philadelphia to bolster its e-commerce capacity.
