Jobs will support growth, new shopping habits. The Midwest chain says new employees are needed as it expands and opens new stores and as it adapts to meet the evolving needs of shoppers.

Hy-Vee Inc. is looking to fill nearly 10,000 positions in stores across its eight-state region as well as its distribution centers in Chariton and Cherokee, Iowa.

The West Des Moines, Iowa-based company said in a release that new employees are needed as it expands and opens new stores and also as it adapts to meet the evolving needs of customers who plan to shop differently this holiday season and beyond.

Part-time and full-time temporary and permanent positions are available and include jobs such as personal shoppers, cashiers, foodservice clerks, stockers and more.

The number of openings in some of Hy-Vee’s largest markets are:

  • Cedar Rapids: 190

  • Des Moines: 1,500

  • Iowa City: 350

  • Kansas City: 445

  • Lincoln: 600

  • Madison: 150

  • Minneapolis: 1,035

  • Omaha/Council Bluffs: 1,075

  • Quad Cities: 670

  • Sioux City: 130

  • Sioux Falls: 525

  • Waterloo/Cedar Falls: 65
