Krasdale Foods, the 114-year-old independent wholesaler and retailer, is opening its largest CTown Supermarket to date, the company said in a statement.

The new Krasdale banner is opening Friday in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Located at 1110 S Washington Ave., the 27,000-square-foot store is Krasdale’s biggest CTown location yet, Krasdale said in a statement.

"We simply cannot wait to welcome everyone to this beautiful store," said store owner Jerry Marquez, who has been doing business with Krasdale Foods for over 30 years. "This is a supermarket that all of Scranton deserves, a store that puts community first and which will offer the convenience, quality, and familiarity that only a true neighborhood supermarket can provide."

The new store in Scranton is part of CTown’s ongoing expansion outside the metro New York neighborhoods where the brand was first established in 1975, the grocer said.

“Jerry Marquez is the epitome of the ultimate partner for Krasdale,” said Dennis Wallin, executive VP of new business development at Krasdale Foods Inc., said in a statement. “Jerry’s incredible strategy, diligence in understanding of the region, and business acumen is exactly what we look for in all our independent owners and operators. These are character traits which are a surefire combination for success, and we’re looking forward to his growth here in the northeastern Pennsylvania region.”

Wedded to the traditional “neighborhood supermarkets,” all CTown locations are independently owned and operated, giving each the freedom and flexibility to customize the shopping experience for their local communities, Krasdale said.

With its base of operations in New York, Krasdale has spread throughout the Northeast and Florida with store banners that include: CTown, Bravo, Aim, Market Fresh, Shop Smart Food Markets and Stop 1 Food Mart.
