Aldi next month is planning to feature an array of lemon-related specials as part an annual promotion through which its shoppers can join the retailer in support of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a leading pediatric cancer charity.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand was founded by Alex Scott, a child with neuroblastoma who held a lemonade fundraiser to support her doctors. She’d raised more than $1 million by the time she passed away at the age of 8; the foundation has since raised more than $200 million and funded more than 1,000 research projects, and provided programs for families affected by childhood cancer.

Batavia, Ill.-based Aldi said it would donate $1 million to the foundation this year and said it would make additional donations reflecting a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the lemon-themed items to be featured at its stores nationwide between July 14-30.

These items include Moser Roth Lemon Chocolate Truffles, Nabisco Belvita Breakfast Biscuits, Sundae Shoppe Frozen Lemonade Bars, Bake Shop Mini Lemon Bites, Nature’s Nectar Watermelon Lemonade, MoonPie Lemon Pies, Nature’s Nectar Lemonade, and Crofton Summer Desert Pans.

Aldi and its shoppers have raised more than $3 million to fund pediatric cancer research projects over the the course of its partnership with the foundation.
