Meijer is expanding its Shipt-based delivery program to include pickup options at stores across the Midwest.
Pickup will be available at all 227 Meijer supercenters in six states that currently offer Meijer Home Delivery. Customers will have the option to choose between having their orders delivered to their home or brought out to their car.
The pickup service will be available from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. seven days a week but, because Meijer is open 24 hours, delivery is available around the clock.
In addition to the expanded capabilities, the retailer recently added toys, electronics, school supplies and health and beauty care items to its list of products available through its home delivery program.
Keith Rothstein, group VP of merchandise services, said that while customers are always looking for ways to maximize their time, it is especially important around the holiday shopping season.
"Being able to choose between store-to-door delivery and pickup is another personalized option that ultimately makes it easier than ever to shop at our stores," Rothstein said.
Meijer joins the ranks of several large retailers that are now offering pickup, including Amazon/Whole Foods; Kroger, which recently dropped its ClickList name for Grocery Pickup; and, most recently, Tops.
