Meijer Opens Three New Supercenters
New supercenters in Ohio and Indiana promise expansive baby and pet departments. Meijer CEO Rick Keyes touted the success of the chain's Shop & Scan technology in promising a state-of-the-art, one-stop shopping experience.
Last month, Meijer announced details of its upcoming small-format Rivertown Market store, set to open this year in Detroit's East Jefferson Corridor. But the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based grocer's latest news is all about big: Meijer has opened three new 155,000-square-feet supercenters, two in Ohio and one in Indiana.
The stores, located in Seven Hills and Boardman, Ohio, and Westfield, Ind., "reinforce our ongoing commitment to serving the needs of communities at a time when everyone is looking for a one-stop shopping experience," Meijer CEO Rick Keyes said in a news release. "We look forward to providing a customer-focused store that offers fresh options and innovation to help reshape how customers shop."

The new supercenters will offer Shop & Scan, Meijer's scan-and-bag-as-you-go option that the retailer debuted on its mobile app in 2018. Grocery delivery and pickup also will be available.
Meijer touted the new stores' wide range of general-merchandise selections, including an expansive baby department and a pet department offering premium foods and more than 500 varieties of dog and cat treats. All three stores also house a Meijer Pharmacy.
Privately owned and family-operated Meijer operates more than 255 stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
