The Pittsburgh area’s newest Shop ’n Save opened in the Tusca Plaza in Brighton Township, Pa., providing residents with a full-service grocery store for the first time in three years. The store is owned and operated by St. Barnabas Land Trust, an affiliate of the local health system best known for its senior living residences. Phil Safran, owner of the Ambridge and East Rochester Shop ’n Save locations, will manage the location.

“We couldn’t be more excited for Brighton Township and the surrounding communities,” said Safran, noting that the new store “offers a modern shopping experience while still providing everyday low prices in demand products, fresh quality and Pump Perks right at home.”

The store features a full-service service deli, in-house bakery and a variety of fresh products, including meats, seafood, local produce, prepared foods and an expanded dairy and frozen food section. The store will also feature Wild Harvest and Essential Everyday private label offerings.

For more than three years, the Brighton Township community has been without a local supermarket, requiring residents to travel several miles to East Rochester or Chippewa to purchase groceries. With a strong drive to support the community, St. Barnabas chose to build an all new, conveniently located grocery store from the ground up and chose Shop ’n Save to serve as a community partner.

“St. Barnabas is deeply invested in caring for our community, and we feel that the store is an extension of that effort,” said Jim Lauteri, marketing director for Pittsburgh-based St. Barnabas. “We’re proud to provide a much-needed community asset right here in our neighborhood. The supermarket’s central location and expanded product line will positively impact the community and bring more than 60 direct jobs, plus employ numerous local support services to keep it all going.”
