The National Grocers Association Foundation (NGAF) on Monday announced the official launch of the SNAP EBT Modernization Technical Assistance Center (SEMTAC) website.
SEMTAC is a cooperative grant project between USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service, which administers SNAP, and the National Grocers Association Foundation. The new website will serve as a resource hub as well as provide technical assistance to independent retailers who are navigating the enrollment process for the USDA’s SNAP online purchasing pilot.
“We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new website, which represents a significant step forward in our commitment to providing valuable resources and technical assistance to get more grocers onboarded onto the SNAP online purchasing pilot,” said Brielle Underwood, NGA Foundation project director.
SEMTAC will educate retailers on the federal requirements for SNAP EBT modernization, including the online purchasing and mobile payment programs.
“As the digital landscape continues to evolve, it is essential for SNAP retailers to have the right tools and assistance to navigate the complexities of online platforms,” said FNS Administrator Cindy Long in a statement. “The launch of this technical assistance center will provide retailers the knowledge and support they need to offer a seamless online grocery shopping experience for SNAP participants.”
The new SEMTAC website will also offer updates on future programs, including the SNAP Mobile Payments Pilot, which will test contactless payment options.
The NGAF, which is the 501(c)3 nonprofit arm of the National Grocers Association (NGA), assists independent retailers with recruiting programs, enhanced retention efforts and professional leadership development opportunities for employers.
