Redner’s Markets Inc. is making larger inroads in the First State with plans for its 45th location in Lewes, Del.  Already established in Sussex County with stores in Georgetown and Milford, the Reading, Pa.-based retailer’s forthcoming Lewes location is set for a spring 2021 opening.

The regional retailer’s new store will be located within the Vineyards at Nassau Valley, a new development about 6.5 miles from Cape Henlopen State Park and about 5 miles from Lewes. Construction on the new 49,000-square-foot store will be conducted by SMJ Contractors Inc. of Douglassville, Pa., and is slated to begin as soon as all permits are approved, which is estimated to be by June.

“We have been working on this location for quite some time and are very excited about the plans for building within this unique shopping center,” Ryan Redner, president and CEO, said in a statement. “The addition of our Redner’s Fresh Market to a shopping center such as Vineyards will be sure to create a truly unique shopping experience.”

Redner said the Lewes store will focus heavily on “offering a variety of prepared foods within our service departments while still providing the values we have been known for in our 50 years of business. I’m confident that we can provide the best, one-stop shopping experience for our guests in this new location.”

In addition to chef prepared meals, other focal points of Redner’s new addition will be departments most requested on guest surveys, including full-service departments such as bakery, deli, service meat and seafood, and fresh produce. The store also plans to carry more than 45,000 items within the frozen, dairy, health and beauty care/nonfoods and grocery departments and will also have self-checkout registers. Shoppers will also be able to take advantage of Redner’s Rewards to redeem on fuel purchases at its fuel kiosk that will be located within the shopping center. At full operating conditions, this store will employ about 115-130 people in both full- and part-time positions.

Employee-owned Redner’s Markets currently operates 44 grocery stores and 21 Quick Shoppes throughout eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.
