Rouses Markets Dives Into Drone Delivery
Partners with Deuce Drone for fall launch. The independent grocer is partnering with Deuce Drone for a test of drone deliveries this fall.
Rouses Markets is diving into the drone delivery game with a test program with partner Deuce Drone that is set for this fall. The independent grocer will conduct the demonstration with an Aerial Drone Delivery Interface System at its location on Airport Boulevard in Mobile, Ala.
The Baton Rouge, La.-based retailer already has invested in personal shopping and one-hour delivery services and is committed to providing customers additional convenient and innovative ways to get groceries. “Drone delivery offers the fastest, safest delivery store to door,” said Rouses Markets CEO Donny Rouse. “We should be able to get groceries to customers in 30 minutes or even less. Plus it’s more cost efficient, meaning we can save customers time and money.”
Rouses, with its 64 Gulf Coast stores, is an ideal test company due to its footprint and commitment to being first to market, said Deuce Drone CEO Rhett Ross. “We’re excited to partner with Rouses Markets and work together to alter the landscape of home delivery,” he added.
Deuce Drone solves the last-mile delivery problem for brick-and-mortar retailers by enabling drone shipment from existing stores and using retailer’s current infrastructure to design build, and operate drone delivery systems that transform retail stores into customer fulfillment centers.
