Loccisano’s Golden Dawn, a 100-year-old independent grocery store in Ellwood City, Pa., was acquired by David and Tammy Morini, who will operate the store under the Shop ‘n Save banner, an independently owned and operated grocery chain with more than 80 stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, New York and West Virginia. The Morinis will take ownership on Aug. 17 and the store will remain open to the public during the transition with upgrades and remodeling in the coming weeks.

“As a family-owned business, we understand the importance of creating a safe and enjoyable retail experience for all neighborhood shoppers. We couldn’t be more excited to serve our community as part of the Shop ‘n Save brand,” said owner David Morini, a fourth-generation grocer whose family also has been operating grocery stores for 100 years. “Because we’ll be operating as an essential business, we feel it’s important to keep our doors open while we revamp the store’s interior, source local products and incorporate new offerings for patrons to enjoy.”

Store offerings will include an onsite butcher offering high-quality, fresh cut meats daily as well as a full-service deli and variety of fresh foods, including meats, locally-sourced produce, prepared meals, dairy and frozen foods as well as an expanded produce section. Customers also will find many of the same signature items made from Loccisano family recipes, as well as meat department favorites that have become widely known throughout the community.

The transition to Shop ‘n Save also will bring new offerings like a selection of Wild Harvest and Essential Everyday private label products. Additionally, customers will be able to sign up for the Shop ‘n Save Perks Card program to receive Pump Perks, personalized discounts and weekly savings in-store.
