Many retailers participate in the Food Marketing Institute’s Family Meals Month promotion in September, but independent grocers such as Wakefern’s ShopRite stores are uniquely positioned to talk about the importance of sitting down for a meal together.
ShopRite’s “From Our Family to Yours” Family Meals Month promotion highlights the 50 individual families that own and operate the 276 ShopRites across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. The campaign shares family owners’ favorite tips on how to find convenient and unique meal solutions in the supermarket.
“ShopRite has always believed that one of the keys to healthy eating is finding ways to enjoy more meals at home,” says Natalie Menza-Crowe, registered dietitian and director of health and wellness for ShopRite. “We’re proud to expand the reach of our award-winning Family Meals Month campaign this year by focusing on in-store activities, and we’re looking forward to helping our shoppers find fun, easy and delicious ways to share meals together during the month of September and all year-round.”
Events will vary by store, but all are geared toward assisting customers in finding meal solutions, and dietitians will host free food demonstrations and classes. The campaign is being marketed through free recipe books, social media/digital posts, TV commercials, weekly circular promotions and billboard ads.
“We’re especially proud of this year’s campaign because we know that encouraging our customers to enjoy more family meals together is something that has a lasting and real effect on the communities we serve,” says Menza-Crowe.
ShopRite was awarded the Food Marketing Institute’s prestigious Gold Plate Award for excellence in promoting Family Meals Month in 2018.
