The Fresh Market Names Brian Johnson SVP Store Operations

The Fresh Market Inc. has appointed Brian Johnson as SVP of store operations, reporting to President and CEO Jason Potter, effective immediately. Johnson joins the Greensboro, N.C.-based grocer from Brookshire Grocery Co., where he spent most of his nearly 30-year career in operations.

For the past six years, Johnson was SVP, division manager, at Brookshire’s, where he led more than 8,000 employee partners in 107 retail locations. Brookshire Grocery Co. is a Tyler, Texas-based supermarket chain with more than 180 stores operating in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas under four banners: Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, Fresh by Brookshire’s and Spring Market.

Johnson graduated with honors from Baylor University with a degree in management. He also holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Tyler and completed the Cornell Food Executive Program in 2015. He is relocating to Greensboro with his wife and their two adult children. 

The Fresh Market currently operates 159 stores in 22 states across the U.S.
