Tom Thumb, the Dallas-based banner operated by Albertsons Cos., will offer customers of five area stores authentic Texas barbecue through a partnership with Terry Black’s Barbecue, a restaurant based in Dallas and Austin.

The move is a part of a new business model—brought on by the coronavirus—for the restaurant.

“As restaurateurs, we’ve seen changes in how people dine out, how people shop for groceries, and the products that are available to consumers because of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mark Black, who owns Terry Black’s Barbecue with his twin brother Mike. “During this time, we’ve pivoted our business model in more ways than one, and this partnership with Tom Thumb in Dallas has allowed us to provide Dallasites with another offering. We’re bringing smoked meats directly to neighborhoods and filling grocery store shelves with items that have previously been out-of-stock.”

The restaurant’s Original Texas Smoked Sausage, Jalapeno & Cheddar Smoked Sausage, Whole Smoked Turkey, Texas-Sized Smoked Beef Rib, ½ Texas Smoked Brisket, Full Rack of Pork Ribs and Chopped Brisket will be available at the following five Dallas stores:

  • 2380 North Field St.

  • 5809 East Lovers Lane

  • 7700 Northwest Highway

  • 7177 Inwood Road

  • 6333 East Mockingbird Lane
