Walmart Resumes In-Person Wellness Days on July 24
First in-store Wellness Day since January 2020 to take place July 24. Walmart is bringing back its quarterly Wellness Days, offering immunizations and free health screenings, ahead of the start of the 2021-2022 school year.
Walmart is bringing back its Wellness Days in-store events in time for parents to check back-t0-school immunizations off their list.
The first in-person Wellness Day since January 2020 will take place July 24 at more than 4,700 Walmart pharmacies across the country, the Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer announced. Low-cost immunizations against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), chicken pox, HPV, tetanus and whooping cough will be available, as will free COVID-19 vaccines for anyone 12 or older.
Free health screenings, including checks of glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure and BMI also will be available. Select locations will offer vision screenings and services at mobile wellness units.
"At least 41% of Americans delayed care during the pandemic, according to the CDC, and that can lead to negative health impacts in the future," said Walmart EVP of Health & Wellness Cheryl Pegus, a cardiologist and former chief medical officer for Walgreens, in a news release. "We want to make it simple for our customers to prioritize their health and catch up on preventive care by offering convenient health resources where they’re already shopping for groceries and back-to-school items."
Events will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time. Since Walmart launched its quarterly Wellness Days events in 2014, Walmart pharmacies have administered more than 4.75 million free health screenings, according to the retailer.
Walmart noted that anyone who receives a COVID-19 vaccine at a Walmart or Sam's Club store can get a free digital copy of their vaccination record that they can then print at home or upload as needed.
