Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans announced that Nicole Wegman has been promoted to the newly created role of brand president.

Since 2017, Wegman, a great-granddaughter of company founder John Wegman, has been SVP of the family-run grocery chain. Her sister Colleen Wegman is the company's CEO; their father, Danny Wegman, now serves as chairman of Wegmans.

Danny Wegman praised Nicole Wegman's leadership on ensuring that the brand lives up to its mission of helping people live healthier, better lives through exceptional food. "Nicole is leading this effort across our company to ensure we only bring the very best to our customers," he said in a statement.

The 105-year-old retailer operates 106 stores in seven states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. In 2021, it ranked No. 4 on Fortune magazine's annual "100 Best Companies to Work For" list. Late last month, Wegmans announced it was moving in to the recently vacated Astor Place Kmart location to open its second store in New York City.
