Nominations are now open for Winsight Grocery Business' annual Remarkable Independents awards program, which will recognize the most influential grocers in the nation in its February 2020 print issue, as well as throughout the month of February on its website and social networks.
Remarkable Independents nominations can be submitted individually by store owners/management, wholesalers/distributors or allied supply chain partners in the following categories:
In-Store Experience (overall in-store excellence)
Category Excellence (housemade specialties, dynamic department design, etc.)
Masterful Marketing (cooking schools, parking lot events, commodity board promotions, events held in store, etc.)
Digital Engagement (online promotions, social media, retailer apps, etc.)
Independent Icons (legendary independent grocers who have left a lasting effect on the industry and their communities)
“Independent retailers are an innovative segment of the market that often don't get the recognition they deserve for their efforts to provide service, quality and value to their customers,” said WGB Content Manager Kat Martin. “Our Remarkable Independents recognition program aims to honor those independents who strive to improve their communities and make their stores great places to work, shop and gather together.”
New to this year's program is a category for Independent Icons, which will recognize legendary independent grocers who have left a lasting impact on the industry and in the communities their stores serve.
WBG and CART, along with presenting sponsors, will host a celebratory reception and awards presentation ceremony for its 2020 Remarkable Independent award winners at the National Grocers Association (NGA) Show, which will be held Feb. 23-26 at the San Diego Convention Center.
The nomination process is fast and easy via the online entry form below. All nominee information will be kept confidential. Information furnished on entry forms will be used to judge applicants, and will also serve as the basis of the Remarkable Independent winners' write-ups in WGB's February issue.
