Hy-Vee Staffer Creates Rose Parade Floats

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Laurel Hollopeter, floral manager at the Iowa City Hy-Vee on South First Avenue, traveled to Pasadena, Calif., this week to design floats for yesterday’s Rose Bowl Parade.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Laurel Hollopeter, floral manager at the Iowa City Hy-Vee on South First Avenue, traveled to Pasadena, Calif., this week to design floats for yesterday’s Rose Bowl Parade.

Hollopeter helped Fiesta Parade Floats, a company that created 13 floats for the event, which preceded the New Year's Day game between Michigan State and Stanford.

Hollopeter has been in the floral business for 35 years. In addition to his work at Hy-Vee, he designs flowers for weddings and other events and helps decorate the Iowa governor's mansion for the holidays.

Hollopeter is president of the Iowa Florists' Association this year.

Designing floats for the Rose Bowl “is a dream come true for any floral designer,” Hollopeter said in a Facebook post.
