Raley’s has given its private label chicken a socially and environmentally conscious upgrade by eliminating antibiotics and switching to 100% recyclable trays.

The improvements have been implemented across the retailer’s Raley’s and Raley’s Purely Made organic chicken, which are now cage-free.

The chickens are also free from hormones and preservatives and are raised on USDA organic, non-GMO vegetarian feed that they forage freely outdoors, the retailer said.

Todd Allen, Raley’s director of meat and seafood, said the retailer is proud to launch its new chicken program, which will bring a “higher quality product to customers at the same low price.”

“These changes are a critical step in our journey and show our commitment to improving our food offerings and being sustainable in our packaging practices,” he said.
