WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. — Tops Friendly Markets will be offering local, white sweet corn at all its locations for two weeks in August, the retailer announced on Monday.
The “Amaize Sweet Corn” will be sourced from the Eden Valley Growers cooperative, Eden, N.Y. and exclusively available at Tops, which is featuring recipes and toppings for the sweet corn on its website.
“We are thrilled to partner with and Eden Valley Growers and Amaize Sweet Corn to bring our customers this exciting, delicious new product,” said Jeff Culhane, Tops’ vice president of perishable operations, in a statement to the press.

“We’re always looking for ways to provide our neighbors with the widest variety of fresh, homegrown produce, and they will definitely enjoy this flavorful, new variety of sweet corn.”
This summer, Tops has been putting a focus on local produce, including publishing a guide to produce harvest periods, and a map and the addresses of the 200 local growers Tops sources from in New York and Pennsylvania.
