MOUNT JOY, Pa. — A memorial service will be held here Saturday for Richard C. Funk, former president of the National Frozen Food Association (now the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association). Funk, who served as the association’s leader for 14 years before retiring in June of 1984, died Sunday at the age of 89. The World War II veteran and active member of the Distinguished Order of Zerocrats and the American Society of Association Executives played a pivotal role in growing the association’s membership. “He was instrumental in guiding the association from a distributor organization to an all-industry organization,” said Kevin Montgomery, current president of the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association. “It was a privilege to work with Dick. He was well respected in the industry for his leadership and professionalism.”
