Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace recently opened the doors of its newest specialty grocery store at 1170 Deer Park Ave. in North Babylon, N.Y. The new digs mark the Melville, N.Y.-based company’s seventh store on Long Island and its ninth overall. Built on the site of a former King Kullen, the full-service 39,241-square-foot supermarket features Uncle Giuseppe’s trademark high-quality, Italian-themed offerings.

As with all Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplaces, the North Babylon location features a full-service deli offering homemade dishes prepared using traditional Old World recipes, and special viewing rooms where pasta and mozzarella are made fresh daily, directly in front of the customer through protective glass partitions.

Uncle Giuseppe’s fresh mozzarella is one of the most popular items in each of its Marketplaces, the company said. The grocer learned its mozzarella-making technique during a trip to Italy.

“When the first Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace opened in East Meadow in 1998, we learned that the best fresh mozzarella in Italy comes from Salerno,” the grocer said. “After a trip to Italy, we learned how to replicate the flavor and texture with a machine that produces a consistently delicious fresh mozzarella, using the finest whole milk curd.”

Uncle Giuseppe’s cheese departments are known for offering hundreds of international and domestic cheeses. “Our experts scour the world to bring back only the most exceptional imported cheeses,” the company website reads. “Their knowledge, superior selection and true love of cheese will guide you to the best Auricchio Provolone or the most delicious Dutch Prima Donna.”

“We are especially proud of our team members who work tirelessly every day to ensure the Uncle Giuseppe's experience, and this newest store is no exception,” said Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace CEO Carl DelPrete in a release announcing the new store opening. “As we continue to grow our brand and add new locations, we will always remain true to our mission, to be more than just a supermarket and to always provide a great shopping experience with a dedicated staff who understands the meaning of customer service.”
