GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Fresh Market, a chain of almost 70 specialty groceries based here, has announced that it will open a new 20,000-square-foot format in Winston-Salem, N.C., featuring a center deli island, as well as an increased selection of prepared foods and a larger produce department, according to published reports. The store, scheduled to open in winter 2007, will anchor the city‘s new Mount Tabor Place shopping center, and will replace another 20 year-old Winston-Salem location in the nearby Thruway Shopping Center, spokeswoman Catherine Ogle told the Winston-Salem Journal. The Fresh Market -- a chain whose relatively small store formats feature full-service meat, seafood, deli and prepared foods departments that emphasize convenient shopping trips for perishables -- is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and has announced several new store openings in Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Alabama and North Carolina.
