WASHINGTON — The National Fisheries Institute last week completed its merger with the U.S. Tuna Foundation. The combined organization, which will be led by current NFI President John Connelly, will continue in its mission to educate the public about the health benefits of fish consumption, including canned and pouched tuna, according to a press release. NFI has also established the Tuna Council, funded through a special assessment of participating companies and managed by two new staff members — legislative expert Randy Parks Thomas and marketing expert Mary Anne Hansan.
